Peripheral Neuropathy in Patients with Cancer
Kim Su-Hyun

Abstract
Clinically overt peripheral nervous system (PNS) involvement is common in patients with cancer. Any part of the PNS can be affected including motor neurons in the ventral horn of the spinal cord, sensory ganglia, nerve roots, plexuses, cranial nerve and peripheral nerves and neuromuscular junctions. Cancer affects the PNS by different mechanisms. These include tumor infiltrations, toxicity of treatments, paraneoplastic disorder, metabolic and nutritional factors and viral infection as a result of the immunosuppression which can accompany cancer treatment. This review discusses the multiple peripheral nerve presentation of cancer from the clinician¡¯s point of view and provides a guide to the evaluation and diagnosis of these challenging disorders.
